Wir haben uns mit den Musikern der Punk-Band Monkey Mind über anstehende Projekte, weitere Songs und Konzerte unterhalten.

Hey, wo erwischen wir euch gerade?
Monkey Mind: Die Band hat ihren Sitz im Nordosten Englands, mit Ausnahme von Michael Olga, der in London lebt. Ursprünglich stammt er aber auch aus dieser Gegend.

Monkey Mind – bitte stellt euch den Lesern des Tough Magazines vor.
Monkey Mind: Die Band besteht aus Lee Wright (Gitarre/Gesang) (spielt auch Gitarre für Crashed Out), Michael Olga (Bassgitarre) (auch Sänger/Gitarrist für The Toy Dolls) und nicht zuletzt Martin Paynton (Schlagzeug). Er spielt auch für eine andere lokale Band namens The Panic Report.

Soll(te) Monkey Mind nur ein Nebenprojekt werden?
Monkey Mind: Nein, wir wollen wirklich raus und die Band auf die Karte setzen! Wir arbeiten hart daran, ein komplettes Album zu machen, dann werden natürlich Gigs/Touring folgen!

Mit „Local Lass“ und „Small Band Syndrome“ habt ihr zwei Songs veröffentlicht. Was dürfen die Fans in naher Zukunft von euch erwarten?
Monkey Mind: Wir planen, Songs in einem ähnlichen Stil wie unsere erste Single zu schreiben; viele melodische Hooks und eingängige Refrains, zu denen jeder mitsingen kann. Das ist das Ziel.

Wie habt ihr euch kennengelernt und entschieden, dieses Projekt zu starten?
Monkey Mind: Ich und Olga haben viele Jahre über Musikideen gesprochen, aber aufgrund unserer Verpflichtungen mit anderen Bands war nie die richtige Zeit- Auftritte/Tourneen usw. Ich habe mich schließlich entschlossen, die Songideen, die ich zu Hause hatte, aufzunehmen und an Olga zu senden, zu denen er die Bassgitarre in London hinzufügte! Wir waren uns beide einig, dass die Songs stark genug waren, um als Single herauszukommen, und Monkey Mind war geboren.

Wie seid ihr auf den Bandnamen gekommen?
Monkey Mind: „Monkey Mind“ ist eine buddhistische Phrase für das „Geschwätz“ oder die Stimme, die sie immer in ihrem Kopf hören, wie ein überaktiver Geist; so habe ich es zumindest gelernt. Ich denke, dass unsere Musik mit ein wenig Glück bleibt „im Kopf der Menschen stecken bleibt“.

Wird es Live-Shows geben? Es ist ja nicht ganz so leicht zu realisieren?
Monkey Mind: Wir werden darauf hinarbeiten, sobald wir eine vollständige Albumveröffentlichung haben. Im Moment gibt es aber keine Eile.

Ein Album wird es also geben – arbeitet ihr gerade an weiteren Songs?
Monkey Mind: Sichere Sache! Ich arbeite bereits am fünften Song, also hoffentlich gibt es nächstes Jahr die Veröffentlichung.

Was bedeuten euch die folgenden Wörter?
Familie
Monkey Mind: Familie ist selbstverständlich die Priorität Nr. 1, denke ich…

Freunde
Monkey Mind: Du brauchst sie auf jeden Fall und wir wären sicherlich nicht zusammen in dieser Band, wenn wir es nicht wären.

Musik-Streaming
Monkey Mind: Es ist die Zukunft, sich daran zu gewöhnen, mit dem Fluss zu gehen.

Monkey Mind: Hmm, nicht großartig für Live-Musik, regnet zu oft, ich bin mir nicht sicher…

Monkey Mind: Lernen Sie, das ‚Affengehirn‘ zu kontrollieren und die Ideen fließen.

Monkey Mind: Ich habe ‚Tough Magazine‘ recherchiert und ihr macht einen tollen Job, macht weiter so!

Hey, where do we catch you right now?
Monkey Mind: The band is based in  the North east  of England, with the exception of Michael Olga, who lives in London,Originally he is also from this area.

Monkey Mind – please introduce yourselfes to the readers of Tough Magazine!
Monkey Mind:The band is Lee Wright Guitar vocals (Also play Guitar for Crashed Out) Michael Olga Bass Guitar (Also Singer /Guitarist for The Toy Dolls) and last but not least Martin Paynton Drums, He also plays for another local band called (The Panic Report).

Should Monkey Mind „just“ be and remain a side project?
Monkey Mind: No, we really want to get out there and put the band on the map! we are working hard on making a full album, then of course gigs/touring will follow!

With „Local Lass“ and „Small Man Syndrome“ you have released two songs. What can the fans in the near future still look forward to?
Monkey Mind: We plan to write songs in a similar style to our first single, lots of melodic hooks and  catchy choruses, something that anyone can sing along to is the aim.

How did you get together and decided to start the project?
Monkey Mind: Me and Olga have been talking over music ideas for many years, but the time has never been right because of our other bands commitments, with gigs/tours ect, I  finally decided to  record the song ideas I had at home and send them to Olga, to which he added the bass guitar on in  London!  We both agreed the songs were strong enough to put out as a single and ‚Monkey Mind‘ was born.

How did you come up with the band name „Monkey Mind“?
Monkey Mind: ‚Monkey Mind‘ I learned   is a Buddhist phrase for the ‚chatter‘ or the voice  you always hear in your head, like an over active mind, I guess our music,  with a little luck gets ’stuck in peoples mind‘.

Will there be live shows? It’s certainly not that easy to realize …
Monkey Mind:We will work towards that once we have a full album release, there’s no rush right now.

There will be an album – are you working on more songs right now?
Monkey Mind: Sure thing! Im working on the fifth song already, so hopefully next year we will see the release.

What do the following words mean to you?
Family
Monkey Mind: Family goes without saying, its No1 priority I guess.

Monkey Mind: You need em for sure, and we certainly would not be in this band together if we were not.

Monkey Mind: Its the future get used to it it , go with the flow.

Monkey Mind: Hmm, Not great for live music unless your mainstream, Rains too often, I’m not sure anymore.
