Mit „Hard Feelings“ haben Blessthefall ihr neues Album veröffentlicht. Wir haben uns Frontmann Beau geschnappt und ihm einige Fragen zu den neuen Songs, aber auch zu weiteren spannenden Themen gestellt!

Hey, wo erwischen wir euch gerade?
Beau: Ich sitze gerade auf meiner Couch und schaue Hockey. Spannend?

„Hard Feelings“ heißt euer neues Album. Woher der Albumtitel?
Beau: Der Titel wurde im Grunde entschieden, nachdem das Album größtenteils fertig war. Wir dachten, dass es zur allgemeinen Atmosphäre des gesamten Albums passt.

Das Album Cover schockt. Eine Rosa Schrift vor einer weißen Mauer? Was will uns dieses Bild aussagen?
Beau: Es war eine zufällige beinahe künstlerische Idee, die ich plötzlich hatte, nachdem das Album größtenteils fertig war. Nachdem es fertig war, hat es mir gut gefallen. Vor allem, weil es sich von den anderen Bands in unserem Genre abhebt.

Euer Album erscheint auf bei RISE Records auf einem für euch neuen Label? Hat der Wechsel des Labels eure Arbeitsweise verändert?
Beau: Ich denke, es hat uns verbessert. Ein neues Plattenlabel hat uns dazu gebracht, extra hart arbeiten zu wollen, weil wir das Gefühl hatten, wir hätten eine weitere Erfolgschance.

Blessthefall – Melodramatic

Das Album wird in den Kritiken durchaus positiv bewertet. Ist dies für euch eine Bestätigung oder sind euch Kritiken prinzipiell weniger wichtig?
Beau: Uns ist es egal, was Kritiker sagen. Die Kritiken, die wichtig sind, stammen von unseren Fans und alle scheinen die Platte wirklich zu lieben.

Irgendwie besticht für mich der Song „Melodramatic“. Beschreibt aus eurer Sicht das Besondere an diesem Song?
Beau: Danke! Nun, der Song soll einfach ein lustiger Song sein, den man live spielen kann, ohne zu viel über die Texte oder irgendwelche technischen Riffs nachdenken zu müssen.

„Welcome Home“ heißt es im letzten Song. Was ist das Besondere am Heimkommen und was bezeichnet ihr als euer Zuhause?
Beau: Mein Zuhause ist meine Familie, wo auch immer sie sind, ist Zuhause für mich.

Bless The Fall: Bezeichnet ihr euch eher als Live oder Studio Band?
Beau: Ich würde beides sagen. Es ist wichtig, ein großartiges Studioalbum zu haben und es wichtig, die Songs live mit Energie und Spannung rüber zu bringen.

Blessthefall – Sleepless in Phoenix

Wie entstehen Blessthefall Songs und gibt es für euch Vorbilder?
Beau: Eric und Elliot schreiben normalerweise die Demos (instrumental) und schicken sie mir. Ich versuche die Texte schreiben, indem ich die Musik auf mich wirken lasse.

Blessthefall unplugged? Ein Gedanke wert oder prinzipiell undenkbar?
Beau: Ich würde gerne ein Album mit Remakes als akustische Versionen machen! Das wäre etwas Besonderes.

Mit welchen Künstlern würdet ihr gerne mal zusammen einen Sog aufnehmen?
Beau: Ich würde gerne mit Pvris oder Bring Me The Horizon einen Song aufnehmen.

Wo seht ihr euch in 10 Jahren?
Beau: Ich habe keine Ahnung, haha.

Blessthefall – Cutthroat

Oft sprechen Bands von ihrem neuen Album als dem Besten in ihrer Karriere. Wie schätzt ihr „Hard Feelings“ ein.
Beau: Ich denke, dass wir als Künstler und Musiker immer unser Bestes geben. Ich denke, es ist das beste Album, das wir zu diesem Zeitpunkt haben machen können.

Welcher Song darf auf einem Bless The Fall Konzert niemals fehlen?
Beau: Hollow Bodies

Welchen Song habt ihr noch nie live gespielt, würdet ihr aber gerne mal probieren?

Hey, where are we catching you right now?
Beau: Currently sitting on my couch watching hockey. Thrilling?

„Hard Feelings“ is your new album. Where did the album title come from?
Beau: The title was basically decided once the album was mostly done. We thought it fit the overall vibe of the entire album.

The album cover shocks. A pink font in front of a white brick wall? What does this picture want to tell us?
Beau: It was a random artistic idea that just came to me, again after the album was mostly done. When the artist created it, I was blown away. Mainly because it stands out from the rest of the bands in our genre.

Your album will be released on RISE Records – a new label for you? Has the label-change also changed your way of working?
Beau: I think it has changed us for the better. Having a new record label made us want to work extra hard because we felt like we had another chance at success.

The album is rated very positive in the reviews. Is this a confirmation for you or is it less important for you?
Beau: We don’t care what critics say. The reviews that matter are from our fans and they all seem to really love the record.

Somehow I like the song „Melodramatic“. Please tell us your view on this song? What is melodramatic for you in this lifetime?
Beau: Thank you! Well the song is supposed to just be a fun song to play live without having to think to hard about the lyrics or any technical riffs.

„Welcome Home“ is the name of the last song. What is special about coming home and what do you call your home?
Beau: My home is my family, wherever they are is home for me.

Bless The Fall: Are you more live or studio band?
Beau: I’d say both. Its important to have a great studio album and important to deliver the songs live with energy and excitement.

How do Bless The Fall Songs come together and are there any role models for you?
Beau: Eric and Elliot usually write the demos and send them to me. I try to write based on how the instrumentals make me feel when I listen to them.

Bless the Fallunplugged? A thought worth or in principle unthinkable?
Beau: I would love to try an album of remakes done acoustically! It would be something special.

With which artists would you like to write a song together?
Beau: I’d love to write with Pvris or Bring Me The Horizon

Where do you see yourself in 10 years?
Beau: I have no clue haha…

Often bands speak of their new album as the best in their career. How do you rate „Hard Feelings“?
Beau: I think we’re at our best overall as artists and musicians. So I think its the best album we could have made.
