„Volume 2“: Neue Versionen von The Bouncing Souls

Die New Jersey Punk-Legenden The Bouncing Souls kündigten kürzlich „Volume 2“ an, ein frech betiteltes Album mit neu interpretierten Songs aus ihrem gesamten Katalog.

„Volume 2“ erscheint am 23.10.2020 bei Pure Noise Records und wurde von Will Yip (The Menzingers, Title Fight, Tigers Jaw) produziert. Es bietet eine neue Sicht auf das zeitlose Songwriting im Herzen der drei Jahrzehnte dauernden Karriere der Band. Das Album enthält verschiedene Versionen von zehn klassischen Souls-Songs sowie einen brandneuen Track: „World On Fire“.

Jetzt hat die Band eine neue Version von „Highway Kings“ geteilt. Die „Volume 2“ -Version von „Highway Kings“ war ursprünglich eine unter zwei Minuten dauernde Explosion von wildem Punk, die auf der LP „Anchors Aweigh“ von The Bouncing Souls 2003 erschien. Diese neue Einstellung hebt die unbestreitbaren Melodien und herzzerreißenden Texte hervor, die seit jeher im Mittelpunkt der Musik von The Bouncing Souls stehen, wobei „Volume 2“ ein neues Licht darauf wirft, warum die langjährige Band seit 30 Jahren so beliebt ist.

Bassist Bryan Kienlen sagt zu der neuen Version des Songs: „One of my favorite places in the world to be is on the road, between places. It’s a unique combination of feeling free of wherever you just left, and the excitement of the unknown ahead. I’m so grateful that all my favorite people in the world share my love of the highway. I penned these lyrics in our truck while doing just that, rolling down the highway on tour. It’s a celebration of what we do, and who we are, word for word. This time, we really marched into unknown territory. I had no expectations going into this, I certainly didn’t expect to end up so excited by what we accomplished. Certain tracks on this record are true departures for us, and that was so liberating, I think we’ve broken some stale molds we’d formed over the decades. The music is totally fresh, and the song lyrics really get a chance to shine in this new setting“.
